faltBAR

WiSe 2024/25

The Windturm 2.0 becomes the faltBAR: students on the Master's degree programme in Architecture took up the challenge of using materials from the Windturm in a new form. Their goal: to develop a creative and sustainable coffee bar for the BHT that embodies the idea of cohesion and reuse. The winning project, faltBAR, was selected by a jury and subsequently realised and assembled by the students themselves.

NØEW FUTURE

19 July - 29 August 2024

In the summer semester of 2024, BHT Master's students under the direction of Prof. Rüdiger Ebel worked on the NØEW FUTURE project in cooperation with a course led by Prof. Volker Halbach from Nuremberg Institute of Technology. The students took on the challenge of giving the existing partial shell of the Elbtower in Hamburg a sustainable function that also blends harmoniously into the cultural landscape and the neighbourhood. From 17 July to 29 August 2024, the results for the Elbtower were presented as part of an exhibition at auau's premises in Hamburg.

10m² Baukultur: Windturm 2.0

Building Culture Prize

As part of the 10m² Baukultur student competition, students Lara Cordes and Ceyda Aksoy developed a concept for using the car parks at the Baukultur Foundation in Schiffbauergasse in Potsdam. Their design was selected as one of ten winners and approved for realisation. For the subsequent use, which was part of the competition brief, the students proposed integrating the tower as a coffee bar in the Haus Bauwesen.

REALLABOR Bruno Taut

SoSe 2023

The master's module Building Research and Building Diagnostics at the Berlin University of Applied Sciences focussed on the Waldsiedlung, which was designed by Bruno Taut in the 1920s. Students analysed the architecture and developed ideas on how it can be preserved and improved with regard to monument protection and modern requirements such as energy efficiency. The project includes research, site visits and a public exhibition. The aim was to preserve Taut's visionary designs for the future and combine them with sustainable approaches.

KEA Charrette

09 - 14 October 2022

As part of Charrette 2022 at the KEA in Copenhagen, BHT students developed innovative design concepts for the design of intergenerational spaces together with international fellow students. They were asked to incorporate regenerative design, bio-mimicry and the concept of ‘existainability’ into their plans. In a week full of brainstorming, discussions and expert consultations, the students developed a variety of ideas and approaches in ten teams.
